Grow Through What You Go Through

 

My name is Monica Davis, and I am a Growth Game Warrior—a possibilitarian who believes that growth is born from what breaks you wide open, and that vulnerability shared with others lifts burdens on both sides. My creative journey is rooted in that belief.

 

For nearly twenty years, painting has been my therapy, deeply intertwined with my love of nature—especially the mountains, where I find clarity, balance, and inspiration. It is there, in the wild, that my art begins to take shape.

What started as a way to heal from personal trauma, life-altering health battles, and to purge the warzone that once surrounded me overseas—has evolved into something much greater. I’ve learned that warzones aren’t always defined by geography; they can live inside us—in our bodies, in loss, in grief, in the weight of the world, in the daily battles we fight to stay grounded and human. My art is how I release those wars—how I turn them into light, texture, and movement.

Painting, paired with the restorative power of nature, saves my life and gives me the courage to keep showing up. Each canvas is both a battlefield and a sanctuary—a place where destruction and beauty coexist, and where healing takes form through color. My work is a vibrant, layered exploration of mixed media—fusing organic forms, texture, and bold abstract energy that mirror the beauty and chaos of growth itself. Every piece reflects nature’s vitality and the unbreakable strength of the human spirit.

We are all savagely vulnerable collages of experience. My hope is that my work resonates with others as they fight and grow through what they go through, their own warzones—whatever form they take.

When the world feels like one big trigger, my art becomes my crusade—my act of self-care and defiance. I focus on what heals me so I can stay strong enough to keep loving humanity, no matter how dark it gets.
